DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Unsigned Continental, three barrel quarter-hour repeater grande sonnerie clockwatch, 61mm, silver OF display case, enamel dial with charming multicolor sleigh scene at center, gilt overpainting around hour chapter and outside minute chapter, KWKS (key not included with this lot), cylinder escapement, gilt mvt, no visible s#. An unusual and attractive piece that strikes its hours as a single tap on one gong and strikes its quarter-hours as a double-tap on the other gong. Repeat function on demand is engaged by pressing the button on the pendant.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, frequently good repeat and grande sonnerie clockwatch function aside from minute hand being a bit out of index but occasionally an additional or an omitted hour strike occurs and occasionally the quarter-hour strikes will initiate as the last hour strike is finishing, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some scattered fine to micro-fine scratches and small surface nicks; flawless dial; excellent hands, mild bend to minute; case shows little wear, an attractive moderate patina, few fine scratches and pinpoint nicks, no dents; tight bow, push shows light wear; good domed glass crystals.
